The Monkey Island games have brought some amazing gaming memories over the decades.  Being Lucasarts, the games had plenty of references to other Lucasfilm projects including Star Wars. Here's 25 interesting facts on the Monkey Island games including a whole bunch...

From Bedrooms to Billions: The Amiga Years! Review

'From Bedrooms to Billions: The Amiga Years!' is a feature film documentary that takes you on a detailed, and I mean detailed journey through the development, and life of the Commodore Amiga. If you grew up in the 80's and 90's then you will know how cool the Amiga was.  I remember the first time I powered up my Commodore Amiga 500 and dropped 'Shadow of the Beast' into the disk drive.  I was blown away by the graphics, sound and music.  Especially as my previous computer was a trusty ZX Spectrum and that's how it was for millions of computer users in the late 80's.  Going from a Speccy or C64 to this leviathan, this monster of a machine was mind blowing. The Amiga introduced me, for the first time to classic games such as the mighty absorbing Lucasarts titles.  The Secret of Monkey Island and Indiana Jones were just a few games that were new to me and it was the Amiga that allowed me to experience the talents of Ron Gilbert and Tim Schafer for...

Thimbleweed Park Is Like An Old Lucasarts Game You've Just Found In A Drawer. Spiritual Successor To Maniac Mansion @grumpygamer

'It’s like opening a dusty old desk drawer and finding an undiscovered LucasArts adventure game you’ve never played before.'  Thimbleweed Park is a new game that cuts to the core of what made classic point & click adventure games so special, and done by the actual people who spawned the genre. Maniac Mansion's Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick have started a new Kickstarter campaign with the aim of bringing to the world a brand new classic point n' click adventure game. The team are trying to raise $375,000 and are quite a way through their objective.  It's no wonder when you read what they promise to bring to us.  As they put it 'a spiritual successor to Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion.'  Enough said.  Where do I pay? Take a look at the blurb below from their Kickstarter page and the link to the main page.  We will be displaying the widget at the top of the page to keep track of their goal and hopefully encourage a few pledges. Ron Gilbert Explains What He Would Do If He Was Making Another Monkey Island

Creator of Monkey Island. Ron Gilbert took to his blog last year and explained what he would do if he was given a chance at making another Monkey Island.  Before we all get excited the talented game developer said:  I am not making another Monkey Island. I have no plans to make another Monkey Island. I am not formulating plans to make another Monkey Island. That's a shame but it is interesting to read what he would do if given the chance.  It would be a retro game that harkened back to Monkey Island 1 and 2.  I'd do it as "enhanced low-res".  Nice crisp retro art, but augmented by the hardware we have today: parallaxing, depth of field, warm glows, etc.  All the stuff we wanted to do back in 1990 but couldn't.  Monkey Island deserves that.  It's authentic.  It doesn't need 3D.  Yes, I've seen the video, it's very cool, but Monkey Island wants to be what it is.  I would want the game to be how we all remember Monkey Island. ...

Ron Gilbert Explains What He Would Do To Monkey Island If He Got His Hands On It.

Ron Gilbert has posted on his blog what he would do if he was to create a new Monkey Island.  He does emphasise that he is NOT making one but if he did it would have the following: It would be a retro game that harkened back to Monkey Island 1 and 2. It would be a hardcore adventure game driven by what made that era so great. No tutorials or hint systems or pansy-assed puzzles or catering to the mass-market or modernizing.  It would be an adventure game for the har...
