The Bearded Trio

Production is well underway on the Steven Spielberg-directed Cold War spy thriller , unofficially titled St. James Place .  Over the past week, the DUMBO section of Brooklyn was transformed, making it look as though it had passed back through time. Here's a local news report showing some of the location: The film is based on the true story of attorney James Donovan (played by Tom Hanks) who was recruited by the CIA to negotiate with the Russians for the release of a captured U-2 spy plane pilot back in 1962.  The original script was written by Matt Charman, but has been revised by the Coen Brothers ( Fargo, No Country for Old Men ).  The film is scheduled for release on October 16, 2015. There are a few more casting announcements for Steven Spielberg’s as-yet-untitled Cold War spy thriller.  Amy Ryan and Alan Alda join a cast that includes Tom Hanks , Billy Magnussen , and Eve Hewson .   The film - the first one directed by Spielberg since Lincoln - is based on the true story of an American attorney, James Donovan , who was recruited by the CIA in order to negotiate the release of a U2 spy plane pilot, Francis Gary Powers , who was shot down over Russia two years prior to the events that will be depicted in the film. Hanks plays Donovan, and Amy Ryan will play his wife.
