Rufio Actor From Spielberg's Hook Launches Kickstarter Campaign For Prequel

Actor Dante Basco , star of Steven Spielberg's 1991 classic Hook has launched a Kickstarter campaign to hopefully bring the origin story of Rufio to the screen.  Basco with a talented team behind him are, initially looking at a goal of $30,000 and at the time of writing this are already at the half way point after only a few days. The story will be about Rufio, before the mohawk, before Neverland, before he was The Pan. Roofus is a 13-year-old kid who is destined to be more than he is. After his mother is forced to put him into a foster home, he and his rag-tag group of best friends - a Jamaican boy named Julani and a bright-eyed latina force of nature named Ella - find a way for Roofus to escape his ill fate, find his happy thought and fulfill his destiny. The story has been reverse engineered from what was set-up in Hook. The movie will answer all the questions you've ever wondered -- How and why is Rufio the leader of the Lost Boys? Where does "bangarang"...

"Hook" Bangarangs: Celebrating 25 Years of a Spielberg "Disappointment" That Has Become a Pop-Culture Classic

"That's the interesting thing," Steven Spielberg said in a recent interview to promote The BFG, " I don't love 'Hook', but my kids do. There's a whole generation out there that appreciates the movie for more than I put into it." Spielberg's 1991 fantasy was one of the most highly anticipated films of his career, and in retrospect, expectations for another E.T.  were high enough that the film couldn't possibly live up to them, especially with the added excitement of starring acting legend Dustin Hoffman, comic superstar Robin Williams, and current "it" girl Julia Roberts.  When the film hit, critical reviews were, in most cases, mixed from mediocre to downright hostile. It was a box office success, but not the all-time hit it was expected to be. There was even talk that the "Spielberg Era" was over (two years later the one-two punch of Jurassic Park and Schindler's List would make such talk laughable.). While...

Frank Marshall Gives Some Secrets To Working On Hook, Back to the Future and Raiders of the Lost Ark

One of the biggest movie producers of all time, Frank Marshall was recently interviewed by News.com.au and gave some insight to working on some of the most popular movies.  Below are some of his memories working on Steven Spielberg movies. HOOK: They built some huge props for the 1991 movie starring Robin Williams as Peter Pan, but one of them in particular was a little too big. “We built the [pirate] ship on the stage and when we went to film the ship Steven [Spielberg] wanted the entire ship to be in the frame,” Marshall said. “But there had been a small error made in looking at the perspective so we had to open the door of the stage and put the camera outside to get all of the ship inside the frame.” BACK TO THE FUTURE: “That’s one of my favourite movies,” Marshall said about the 1985 classic. “If you were in a script writing class I would just give you that script and say this is a perfect script.” Marshall is particularly proud of how quickly they made the movie...

First Teaser Poster For Warner Bros Pan Is Amazing @Pan

Quality movie posters are rare these days, so when one comes along we feel we have to post it here.  We were sent the poster today along with a press release for the movie.  Pan from Warner Bros is a live action Peter Pan movie directed by Joe Wright and starring Hugh Jackman.  If the movie is half as good as the poster then we are in for a treat. The poster has a feel of Mary Poppins, Steven Spielberg's Hook (obviously) and Harry Potter.  What do you think? Rob @thebeardedtrio Synopsis From Warner Bros. Pictures comes, “Pan,” a live-action Peter Pan feature directed by Joe Wright (“Atonement,” “Pride & Prejudice”). Offering a new take on the origin of the classic characters created by J.M. Barrie, the action adventure follows the story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny—to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan. The film stars Osca...
