I think it's your new book."   It's better than that!  It's a REVISED and EXPANDED edition of the excellent BACK TO THE FUTURE: THE ULTIMATE VISUAL HISTORY.   I own the original version of this book and believe me this book needs to be in your collection whether you love the Back to the Future movies, a Steven Spielberg fan or just a movie buff.  It is, in my opinion the most detailed book on Back to the Future I've ever read with behind-the-scenes info that has never been seen anywhere before.  With an expanded edition of the book I don't think there will ever be a more definitive look at the Robert Zemeckis directed movies. Memo For Doc Brown Role Shows 40 Potential Actors It is well known that Michael J. Fox was the first choice to play Marty McFly in the Back to the Future movies, even though initially the role was given to Eric Stoltz because Fox was committed to the filming of the TV show, Family Ties.  But the role of Doc Brown or "the scientist" as the role was known in the early stages was less defined.  The creative team did not have a candidate in mind so casting director, Mike Fenton, Jane Feinberg and Judy Taylor produced a memo with a list of forty names.  It's quite interesting to see names on the list that would make you wonder how they would have interpreted Doc Brown. Names such as John Cleese, Gene Hackman, Gene Wilder and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Rene Auberjonois who played the shape-shifting Odo in the hit TV series were all on the list, some with lines through their name.  One can only assume these were dismissed at an early stage while those with ticks sho...

Back To The Future - 7" Scale Action Figure - Ultimate Doc Brown From NECA NECA really do push the boat out when it comes to their action figures.  This latest figure, Doc Brown from Back to the Future is no exception.  Coming in at 7" and with interchangeable hands and head it really is a thing of beauty!  I particularly like the head of shock which is either from the scene where the clockwork car catches fire or I suspect because there is a wrench included with the figure, it's where the electric mains cable detaches just before the lightning strike.  But wait!  He's wearing goggles so it has to be with the clockwork car right?  I guess that's why there are two heads.  Wish there was a little model car too. Michael J Fox interview By Barry Norman 1985 - London Premiere of Back to the Future On December 3, 1985, Barry Norman interviewed Michael J Fox at the Royal Premiere of Back to the Future at the Empire cinema in London's Leicester Square for the BBC TV show 'Film '85' The Premiere was in the presence of TRH Prince Charles and Princess Diana. It's such a classic interview and the much missed Barry Norman at one point asks Michael what he thought of Steven Spielberg:  "I've named one wing of my home after him." was his reply. Josh Gad Brings The Cast Of Back To The Future Together For A Video Chat Last week, Josh Gad managed to get the cast of The Goonies on a video chat and boy was that fun!  Now, to prove that lightning can actually strike twice even if it is the clock tower, this time Josh gets the cast of Back to the Future together on a video chat.  Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson to name a few join for a chat. Even the director of Back to the Future, Robert Zemeckis turns up with writer, Bob Gale. It really is a fun video and you get to hear the cast reenacting some of the scenes from the movie.  It turns out Josh Gad actually does a really good George McFly. The Making of Back to the Future II 'It's your kid's Marty!  Something has got to be done about your kids!'  Remember watching the end of Back to the Future and hearing Doc desperately tell Marty that he's got to go back tot the future because of his kids?  Imagine having to wait four long years to find out.  Well, that was 1985 and it wouldn't be until 1989 would we all find out about his kids and the fact that (spoiler) hover-boards don't work on water. Is Back to the Future II better than the first one?  That's a difficult question to answer.  It has an extremely clever plot (to clever, some people will say) but there's a charm about the first one that is rare in a movie, lightning never strikes twice, so to speak.  Never the less, I do like the second one and it can sit along side the first movie knowing it did a good job.  Anyway, here's a making of feature on Back to the Future II that continues the making of story from the first one ...

If, like me you are a fan of the 70's and 80's then the idea of having a box full of retro goodness sent to you every month sounds like a fan-dabby-dozy idea.  Well, that is exactly what Time-Junkies do.  Every month for £22.99 you can get a box full of treasures from the decade of your choice.  There's a box for him and her and a choice from the 70's, 80's or 90's. The good folks at Time Junkies were kind enough to send me a box and I couldn't wait to see what retro goodness was inside. Opening the box you get a welcome message printed on the inside of the box promising plenty of nostalgia to come.
