Ron Howard On Willow 2 - No Green-Light Yet But Potential Welsh Location

Ron Howard Answers Our Questions About Willow 2 Warwick Davies Is Very Happy With The Sequel Wales Being Considered For A Location Sequel Not Green-Lit Yet During a live Q&A with Ron Howard on Facebook I was lucky enough to get my question answered by the director about the current progress of Willow 2 and whether there's a chance we could see a return to Wales where the first movie was shot. Ron Howard was answering questions on a Facebook live video chat for the Edinburgh International Film Festival's #EdFilmFestAtHome event.  Howard was promoting his latest documentary REBUILDING PARADISE about the destruction of the city of Paradise in the United States due to horrendous fires and how the community pulled together during these recent tragic events.  Rebuilding Paradise is sure to be a moving but essential watch.  We've added the trailer below. I had to get a quick question in at the end of the chat about the potential sequel to the 1988 Lucasfilm pro...

PHOTO OF THE DAY - George Lucas During American Graffiti and Attack of the Clones

Two photos, taken 27 years apart. George Lucas during the filming of American Graffiti in 1973, then during the filming of Attack of the Clones in 2000. What's extra fun is that the actor pictured in the American Graffiti shot is Ron Howard, who, 44 years later, would find himself directing Solo: A Star Wars Story . - Brad The Bearded Trio - The Site For Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, John Williams and a whole lot more.

BRAD'S APRIL ESCAPE PART 18 - SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY

Brad’s April Escape - Part 18 April 28 - Solo: A Star Wars Story Each weekday this month, I’ll screen a film from The Bearded Trio Cinematic Universe and list 10 random scenes, characters, musical cues or performances that I particularly enjoy and look forward to upon every viewing. I’d love to hear similar little things you enjoy about these films, and hope you join me in this escape from the present-day world. Next up is my personal favorite Star Wars film of the Disney era so far, Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). Solo - An Introduction I'll admit to being in the majority when a spinoff film focusing on Han Solo was announced in 2014. "We don't need a Han Solo movie," was probably my scorching hot take at the time. Then in 2016 and 2017, the film went through some well-documented issues during production. Ron Howard was a known commodity to me as a director, and has a long history with Lucasfilm, which I thought was very cool, that he co...

Taking A Look At Industrial Light & Magic Presents: Solo: A Star Wars Story

Industrial Light & Magic Presents: Solo: A Star Wars Story I was lucky enough to get my hands on this gem of a book published by Abrams ,  It's called Industrial Light & Magic Presents: Solo: A Star Wars Story and I have to say it is easily as good as the other "behind the scenes" Star Wars books that you may have in your collection such as the ones by Jonathan W. Rinzler. The book is written by ILM guru, Rob Bredow who was the visual effects supervisor for the movie and in fact was nominated for an Academy Award for Solo: A Star Wars Story in 2019.  It goes without saying that Bredow is most definitely one of the most qualified to write a detailed book on the work that goes into bringing a Star Wars story to life and in particular the wonderful visual effects. The book really does feel like a fly-on-the-wall documentary and boasts a logical layout throughout its 256 pages.  From pre-production to production and finally the post-production, we get to see ...

Movie Review: "Solo: A Star Wars Story" Is A Grand Space Adventure

SOLO: A Star Wars Story Starring Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joonas Suotamo and Paul Bettany Screenplay by Johnathan Kasdan and Lawrence Kasdan Directed by Ron Howard Reviewed by Paul & Patrick Gibbs   Out of Four As most people know by now, the second Star Wars  anthology film has been plagued by controversy since the surprise firing of the film's co-directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, best known as the directors of The Lego Movie and the 21 Jump Street films. The duo were quickly replaced by Academy Award winner Ron Howard, but this didn't stop the negative buzz on the internet, much of it centring around the film's star, young Alden Ehrenreich. Some internet fans were outraged and disappointed.  There was weeping, wailing, gnashing of teeth and wild rumors that Ehrenreich couldn't act, complaints about Howard being a lousy director with no sense of style (a persi...

Arrested Development: Star Wars with Ron Howard!

Ron Howard Narrates Star Wars In The Style Of Arrested Development In this funny video which has been released on the official Star Wars YouTube channel, the director of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Ron Howard narrates Star Wars: A New Hope in the style he narrates episodes of Arrested Development. Now, I will admit I've not watched Arrested Development, perhaps our readers can tell me if its worth watching but I still found the video entertaining with Howard's timing on some of the lines.  For example, Luke - "Who is she?  She's beautiful." Ron Howard with a dead pan voice, "She's his sister."  Made me chuckle. Rob The Bearded Trio - The Site For Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, John Williams and a whole lot more.

George Lucas Gives Suggestion To Ron Howard On A Scene While Visiting Solo Set. It's Going In The Movie

George Lucas and Ron Howard George Lucas has visited the set of Ron Howards' Solo movie which of course will give us a back story on everyone's favourite smuggler, Han Solo. There's an article in Entertainment Weekly and it reveals Lucas was being shown around the set of the movie.  While he was on the Millennium Falcon George came up with a small suggestion for the movie.  According to Kathleen Kennedy it's a funny one and Ron Howard, the director loved it so much that it's staying in the film.  Kennedy tells us: “He had intended to just kind of stop by and say hi, and he stayed five hours...There’s even one little moment in a scene that — I can’t tell you what, sorry — but in the scene on the Millennium Falcon where George said, ‘Why doesn’t Han just do this.’”  Kennedy adds that the suggestion is a "funny little bit that will probably get a laugh." "Ron happened to be by the monitor and not inside the Falcon and he goes, ‘Oh that’s a gre...

Ron Howard Turned Down Directing Star Wars Prequels As It Was "Too Daunting"

Today Lucasfilm announced Ron Howard as the new director for the standalone Han Solo movie which will hit screens next year.  It's not the first time Howard was offered the director's chair for a Star Wars movie.  He was offered the big seat for one of the prequels.  In an interview on Happy Sad Confused podcast last year he revealed how he was approached by George Lucas: “He did, he did [ask],” Howard said. “He didn’t necessarily want to direct them, and he told me that he had talked to [Robert] Zemeckis, he talked to me, he talked to Steven Spielberg. I was the third one he spoke to. They had all said the same thing, ‘George, you should just do it!’” And by the sounds of it. Howard didn’t even really consider it. He said “Willow” was his “least personal” film because it was in service to Lucas’ vision and added about “Star Wars”: “I don’t think anybody wanted to follow up that act at the time. It was an honor, but it would’ve been too daunting.” He also menti...

Breaking news straight in from Lucasfilm :  We reported via an announcement from Lucasfilm yesterday that told us that directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are departing the Han Solo stand alone film over "creative differences."  Well now we get another official statement, this time that RON HOWARD is to take over directorial duties. “At Lucasfilm, we believe the highest goal of each film is to delight, carrying forward the spirit of the saga that George Lucas began forty years ago,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that Ron Howard will step in to direct the untitled Han Solo film. We have a wonderful script, an incredible cast and crew, and the absolute commitment to make a great movie. Filming will resume the 10th of July.” Howard has made some of the biggest hits and most critically-acclaimed movies of the modern era. Two New Featurettes for IN THE HEART OF THE SEA @RealRonHoward

Here's two new featurettes that have been sent to The Bearded Trio for Ron Howard's latest epic movie, IN THE HEART OF THE SEA. Both featurettes celebrate the career and achievements of the man behind this epic action adventure starring Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy and Ben Whishaw. IN THE HEART OF THE SEA opens nationwide across the UK on 26th December. Synopsis Oscar winner Ron Howard (“A Beautiful Mind”) directs the action adventure “In the Heart of the Sea,” based on Nathaniel Philbrick’s best-selling book about the dramatic true journey of the Essex. In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance.  The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick.  But that told only half the story.  “In the Heart of the Sea” reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, as the ship’s surviving...
