According to Infaroe.com Steven Spielberg is heading to the Faroe Islands to shoot some scenes for the upcoming movie adaptation of The BFG from Welshman, Roald Dahl.  The website tells us: Spielberg is planning to start filming in 2015, and will be having his team in Faroe islands July 2015. They will be filming some of the amazing landscape and nature in Faroe Islands, which they will be adding to the film background...The release date is summer 2016, so we are looking forward to see the Faroese landscape and nature in a big budget Hollywood movie next year! OF course this news is totally unofficial at the moment and not to be taken as official news until we get the news from Dreamworks. BFG UPDATE - Disney To Co-produce. As production gets underway in Vancouver, The Walt Disney Studios announced it will co-produce and co-finance Steven Spielberg’s “The BFG.”   This marks the three-time Academy Award winner’s first time directing a Disney-branded movie. Previously announced cast include three-time Tony Award winner Mark Rylance who will play the titular “Big Friendly Giant” and newcomer Ruby Barnhill as Sophie.  They are now joined by Bill Hader, Jemaine Clement, Michael David Adamthwaite, Daniel Bacon, Chris Gibbs, Adam Godley, Jonathan Holmes, Paul Moniz de Sa and Olafur Olaffson, all cast as giants. Buckingham Palace has also found its residents with Penelope Wilton being cast as The Queen and Rebecca Hall as Mary, the Queen’s maid. DreamWorks Studios has tapped Striker Entertainment to serve as the licensing agent for the upcoming Steven Spielberg live-action version of Roald Dahl's popular children's novel The BFG, it was announced Wednesday. Striker will handle North American licensing and worldwide deals for toys, video games and other categories. eOne is the licensing agent for the U.K. and the European Union. "The BFG marks DreamWorks' fifth collaboration with Striker Entertainment," said Jeff Small, DreamWorks' president and COO. "Russell Binder and Marc Mostman have been outstanding partners to us over the years, and we look forward to working with them and their team on this exciting project." Striker, based in L.A., has handled licensing for The Walking Dead, The Hunger Games, Orange Is the New Black, Candy Crush and other movie and TV properties.
