The Bearded Trio

Another year, another London Film & Comic Con .  Held at the Olympia , London and organised by Showmasters , this year saw some big names attending.  We had John Cleese, Christopher LLoyd, Kevin Smith, Wil Weaton and Benedict Cumberbatch to name a few. I was in attendance the whole weekend and can safely say this has been the most organised comic con I've been to.  I was at the first LFCC when it moved to the Olympia a few years ago and that was, to put it kindly a little chaotic.  The layout was all wrong with not enough room allocated for the guest signings and overcrowding throughout the floors.  Fast forward to 2017 and as promised by Showmasters they have learnt from their mistakes.  The stalls were situated on the ground floor and spread over the entire space of the Olympia.  The walkways were wide and was a breeze to walk down, a task not that easy at most comic cons. Film & Comic Con Cardiff took place over the weekend at the Motorpoint Arena and it was another fine event organised by Showmasters. Saturday It wasn't the biggest event even compared to past Cardiff comic cons but that didn't stop it from being an enjoyable experience.  I along with my wife turned up on the Saturday around 9:30 am and we more or less walked straight in.  The first thing we noticed that was different from previous Film & Comic Cons was the security.  Tables were setup at the entrance and staff were thoroughly checking bags.  We even saw a few police walking around.  This was the first time I've seen this at a comic con.  After picking up our press passes and leaving our coats at the cloak room (£2 per item) we walked into the main arena.  The first thing that confronted us was the Mystery Machine van from Scooby Doo.  For a small fee you could have your photo taken sitting in the van.  We decided to just ...

Film & Comic Con Cardiff took place at the Motorpoint Arena on the 24th and 25th October in the Welsh capital of Cardiff.  The event, run by Showmasters always proves popular with the locals and fans from all over the country.  The guest line up was headlined by Carl Weathers from the Rocky films and also late announcement that peaked my interest, Margot Kidder who played Lois Lane in the Superman movies of the 70's and 80's.  Both were on my list of autographs I just had to get on Saturday. Arriving just after 9am we headed into the massive arena and were greeted by a talking Kitt car from the classic 80's TV series, Knightrider.  After taking a photo (which was harder than we thought.  The owner was constantly cleaning Kitt, and to be honest who wouldn't?) we headed towards the stalls.  My mission was to get my hands on the Jaws Reaction figures.  A quick glance across at the stalls and I had a feeling these were going to prove illusive. ...

London Film & Comic Con took place over the weekend and the event organised by Showmasters was bigger than it's ever been.  Here's a day by day account of the event In anticipation of the thousands of fans and geeks that were set for a weekend of autograph hunting, photoshoots and purchasing of memorabilia the organisers decided this year's event should be spread over four floors at the Olympia in London.  Previous events had taken place at Earl's Court but sadly that venue is now closed and awaiting to be demolished. We (I was accompanied by my wife Rachel) arrived on the Friday and my first realisation was how much more there was and how getting used to the four floor layout was going to be essential.  It was confusing at first but a few reconnaissance missions on each floor and memorising the map (taking a photo of it helped) got me ready for the Saturday and Sunday when my photoshoots would be kicking off.
