George Lucas to appear in The Clone Wars

George Lucas is set to make his first appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as Chairman Papanoida in episode four of season three. Sphere Of Influence sees the Star Wars creator's second outing as the blue-skinned resident of Coruscant, after first making a cameo in Revenge Of The Sith (where he had risen to the ranks of 'Baron'). Talking about his role, Lucas said, “My appearance in Episode III was just for fun. Mostly, I did it for my kids. I was wrapping the series, and I’d never been on-screen in a Star Wars film, even though I’d been making them for decades. With The Clone Wars , I get the best of both worlds, because I get a starring role but don’t have to do any acting or wear any blue make-up.” His family, who appeared alongside him in the final live action Star Wars film, will also feature in the animated story, though none of the characters, including Lucas, will be voiced by their human counterparts. However, his daughter Katie Lucas is taking ...

Spielberg drops in at Sherston

SHERSTON had a taste of Hollywood when Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg was spotted taking a break from filming War Horse at Castle Combe last week. Regulars at the Rattlebone Inn saw him there on Thursday enjoying a meal. One said: "The minders and the cars outside with the tinted windows that gave it away – and the baseball cap." The director’s current project is an adaptation of a children’s novel by Michael Morpurgo which tells the tale of a farm horse taken to serve in the First World War and the young boy who goes in search of him. It features Jeremy Irvine, Emily Watson and Harry Potter star David Thewlis, who also played one of Black Beauty’s owners in the 1994 film. Sherston location shown below. Spielberg Filming War Horse In Wales In October. Agency Looking For Extras

With the Ryder Cup taking place in South Wales in particular Newport where the Celtic Manor is located, it seems Hollywood has taken over the Welsh valleys.  But it doesn't end there because in a couple of weeks time Steven Spielberg is going to be filming War Horse in a small village just a few miles from the Celtic Manor.  That village is Caerwent located about five miles west of Chepstow and eleven miles east of Newport, and was founded by the Romans.  There are a number of roman ruins so much so that some are actually in the residents back gardens. According to the casting agency they require males with black or olive skin, short hair and cut with short back and sides, physically fit and no tattoos. Since I live five miles from where they will be filming naturally I have put my name down for an extra (even though I have white skin its worth a try.) I will let you know if I get a part or not.  If you feel like having a try the link is http://www.castingcol...

Rango Movie Photo Stills

VIDEO: Fan Does A Fantastic Jurassic Park Impression Recreating Scene

YouTuber, "UndoTube" has done a fantastic recreation of the dining scene from Jurassic Park.  His impressions are rather impressive The only reason I did this video: Jeff "Freaking" Goldblum. My friends and I sat up all night doing Jeff Goldblum impersonations, ending each sentence with "and, and, if... and, well, there it is." I have a hunch that when he gets a script, he adds a comma after 90% of the words in all of his lines. "I'm just saying that, uh, uh, life, uh, finds, a way." I concentrated on Jeff Goldblum... my impersonation of the other four characters may not be up to par.

VIDEO: STAR WARS : The Solo Adventures

Johnny Depp Is Rango

Rango is a pet chameleon who lives in a terrarium. Everything is calm and comfortable and relaxing and quiet. Until, one day, he somehow ends up in the rough of an Old West town in the American southwest, whose name is actually “Dirt.” As he’s always thought himself a hero, Rango establishes himself as the lawman, strolling the streets as a sheriff like character. Unbeknown to him, the “good guy” role doesn’t do very well in Dirt -- with a whole cemetery filled with good guy tombstones. But that doesn’t stop Rango from trying, constantly seeking to fit in, with his surroundings, no matter how challenging -- just like a good chameleon! Check out the teaser trailer of this upcoming Nickelodeon and Paramount flick, due in theaters March 4th, 2011.

Lucasarts, Please Do Your Special Make Over To Indiana Jones And The Fate Of Atlantis

So Lucasarts, since you've done such a great job with the first two Monkey Island games (the second is still only a dollar/59p by the way on Itunes) why not do a make over of the fantastic Lucasarts game Indiana Jones And The Fate Of Atlantis?  Like most of the point and clicks from Lucasarts this was quality entertainment from start to finish.  It had a great story, enticing atmosphere, and addictive gameplay. There were over 200 locations to explore.  The music and sound effects were way better than any other adventure game on the market at the time.  Could you imagine this game in HD on your Xbox or PS3 and don't get me started if it was on the Iphone?  Come on Lucasarts, don't make me beg! INTRO TO INDIANA JONES AND THE FATE OF ATLANTIS

Grim Fandango Easter Egg In Monkey Island 2 Special Edition

So there I am playing Monkey Island 2 on my Xbox and I'm just about to enter the mansion and go up the stairs and what do I see in the painting on the wall?  Well see for yourself So does this mean that Lucasarts are working on a Grim Fandango special edition?  After all we all started speculating when Day Of The Tentacle was found in the first one.  See the link below. http://www.thebeardedtrio.com/2009/08/hidden-day-of-tentacle-meaning-in.html Anyway if you havent got the game yet and you own an Iphone or Ipad then its under a dollar on Itunes at the moment (thats 59p to the Brits.) Its worth it just to listen to the great music and the spitting contest.

Celebration V: Friday - Ralph McQuarrie Raiders of the Lost Ark drawing

This image is Ralph McQuarrie's only contribution to the film Raiders of the Lost Ark . This pen drawing depicting the power of the Ark was used to create the illustration for the prop bible in the film. For the figures in the foreground, he took reference photos of several ILM employees. The staining on the right is where the oversized image was taped together, and no, the text on the page doesn't actually translate into anything. At the time it was created, Ralph never could have imagined that people might someday have the opportunity to stand within inches of the drawing to actually try and read it. Seen at A Gallery of Imagination: The Star Wars Art of Ralph McQuarrie at Celebration V.

Top Ten Annoying Things In A Cinema

Going to the cinema is fun experience, we all love it.  But admit it before we go in there are a few things that go through our head that we hope are not going to be there or happen.  Here are my top ten annoying things in a cinema in no particular order 1 - Groups of kids who are obviously not there to watch the movie Its so annoying.  They sit at the back while some may sit at the front and laugh and giggle all they way through the movie.  Argggg!!!!  Why did they waste their money?  Just to annoy the rest of us?  Now I normally try to find an "over 18 only" showing of the movie. 2 - People texting and checking their phone. Its so distracting.  It doesn't matter whats happening in the movie my attention will always go to that glowing screen someone is holding.  Switch it off!  The world is not going to end. 3 - The cinema being too cold or warm  I don't expect to pay money and have a draft sweeping across me for two h...

Gwent Music Support Service performing Star Wars In My Dinner Break

So I was on my dinner break and all of a sudden I heard an orchestra playing. The Gwent Music Support Service performed John William's Star Wars. A really well done rendition too. This performance was part of the new MUSIC FOR ALL campaign that aims to get more students engaged in music making. Turned out to be a perfect lunch break. (Maybe the service could arrange a tribute to John Williams evening hint hint!)
