This image is Ralph McQuarrie's only contribution to the film Raiders of the Lost Ark . This pen drawing depicting the power of the Ark was used to create the illustration for the prop bible in the film. For the figures in the foreground, he took reference photos of several ILM employees. The staining on the right is where the oversized image was taped together, and no, the text on the page doesn't actually translate into anything. At the time it was created, Ralph never could have imagined that people might someday have the opportunity to stand within inches of the drawing to actually try and read it. Going to the cinema is fun experience, we all love it.  But admit it before we go in there are a few things that go through our head that we hope are not going to be there or happen.  Here are my top ten annoying things in a cinema in no particular order 1 - Groups of kids who are obviously not there to watch the movie Its so annoying.  They sit at the back while some may sit at the front and laugh and giggle all they way through the movie.  Argggg!!!!  Why did they waste their money?  Just to annoy the rest of us?  Now I normally try to find an "over 18 only" showing of the movie. 2 - People texting and checking their phone. Its so distracting.  It doesn't matter whats happening in the movie my attention will always go to that glowing screen someone is holding.  Switch it off!  The world is not going to end. 3 - The cinema being too cold or warm  I don't expect to pay money and have a draft sweeping across me for two h...

So I was on my dinner break and all of a sudden I heard an orchestra playing. The Gwent Music Support Service performed John William's Star Wars. A really well done rendition too. This performance was part of the new MUSIC FOR ALL campaign that aims to get more students engaged in music making. Turned out to be a perfect lunch break. (Maybe the service could arrange a tribute to John Williams evening hint hint!)

A couple of Queensland dinosaurs could be the next big thing in Hollywood if Steven Spielberg decides to shoot his latest TV blockbuster in Australia. The 13-part Terra Nova centres on a young family from 100 years in the future that travels back to the prehistoric era. Entertainment Weekly says actor Jason O'Mara of Life On Mars fame has signed to play the family patriarch. Filming is due to begin later this year. Spielberg, who shot his Pacific miniseries in Melbourne, reportedly sent a scout to north Queensland last week in search of locations for this latest project. Queensland Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor says the state would be the perfect set. "There would be no better place ... than in the oldest continent on Earth, which is home to the oldest rainforest on Earth and the World Heritage-listed Riversleigh Fossil Fields, home to some of the oldest and most famous dinosaurs on Earth," Mr Lawlor said. "I'm sure if Mr Spielberg chose Queensla...

It's the 25th anniversary for Steven Spielberg and Richard Donner's The Goonies. From a marketing standpoint that translates to the perfect opportunity to bring the classic adventure film to Blu-ray Disc. Warner Home Video has confirmed that Goonies will be making its Blu-ray debut on November 2, 2010, in two different packages. The standard release will include the film and all its bonus features, while a ultimate collector's edition release also available on DVD will additionally include a "Goonies" board game, collectable storyboard prints, a 1985 souvenir magazine and a 2009 Empire Magazine article on the cast and Richard Donner and Steven Spielberg. On-disc bonus features include the following: Deleted scenes "Making of" documentary Commentary from Donner and the entire cast Cyndi Lauper music video 'The Goonies ‘R Good Enough'

Producer Says "Indiana Jones 5" Rumors are False Producer Frank Marshall has said that the story regarding the next Indy movie being about the Bermuda Triangle is 100% false. Here is what he had to say: "The rumor about INDY 5 is completely false. Nothing has changed, we are not shooting next year and still in the research phase." For a fifth installment to be made, Steven Spielberg said that he and George Lucas would have to find something for Indy to search for. Last year, Shia LaBeouf revealed that Spielberg "cracked" the story and Lucas is now expanding the idea. Marshall doesn't directly mention that the Bermuda Triangle storyline is false, but it's strange for an archeologist to be interested in that area. Stay tuned.

Video games based on Back to the Future and Jurassic Park are reportedly in the works. Telltale Games is developing titles based on the two popular film series, reports The New York Times . The games will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC and Mac this winter. ''I think it's a prime time to reintroduce these properties in the digital world,'' said Telltale Games CEO Dan Connors. He added: ''Telltale Games has always set out to be a great storytelling company. We've been honing our chops over the past six years, and we're ready to take on these two iconic properties and continue to advance storytelling in games.'' The games will tell new stories featuring characters from both franchises.

musicrooms.net is reporting that the next Indy film will be about the Bermuda Triangle where as we all know is where aircrafts and boats mysteriously go missing.  The movie that starts shooting next year will once again star Harrison Ford and Shia LaBeouf. “George (Lucas) and Steven (Spielberg) have been working on a script and it's almost there," a source explained. “Harrison is on stand-by for filming next year. This looks like being an emotional and exciting conclusion to the franchise, with Indy facing his biggest challenge yet.” “Shia LaBeouf has a central role again as Indy's son but this will be a blockbuster made in the old fashioned way rather than the CGI efforts of the last movie,” the source added. This is all unconfirmed so lets wait and see.  I'm not entirely convinced by the facts above and need more than "a known source."  Thebeardedtrio will keep you updated as soon as we get any more news.

So I've just got back from the Star Wars Collector's Fair in Newport South Wales.  What a great time I had.  Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) was there and I must say what a top guy.  Very friendly and funny. Also had my picture taken with Michael Carter (Bib Fortuna.) who was also friendly and takes the time to personalise your photo.  Also there was Mike Edmonds (Logray) who never stopped smiling and quite happy to have his photo taken with us.  There was a fully working R2-D2 too. So you've seen the sneak peak trailer for Super 8 and already like the ending to Lost you want answers.  Here's what we have learnt so far... Its set in 1979. Produced by Steven Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment. It is written and directed by JJ Abrams . It is not Cloverfield 2. It arrives next Summer. This will be an homage to Spielberg’s 1970’s/1980’s Amblin films. The trailer was shot independently of the film. The special effects for the trailer were done under the cover of Abrams new NBC series Undercovers. Even though the title suggests it, it will NOT be shot with a super 8 camcorder. It will be distributed by Paramout Pictures. The trailer features a train crash and something trying to escape from one of the containers. It mentions all materials being transported from Area 51 to a secure facililty in Ohio. There you have it.  That's all confirmed so far.  We will keep you informed when more is confirmed.   THE BRITISH actor who played Chewbacca in the Star Wars films will be in Newport next weekend for his first ever visit to Wales. Peter Mayhew, who played the Wookie Chewbacca in four Star Wars movies, will appear at the annual Star Wars and Sci-Fi collectors fair in Newport Leisure Centre on July 6. Mr Mayhew, who stands at 7 foot 3 inches tall, will be joined by a number of other stars from the films, including Mike Carter who played Bib Fortuna, Mike Edmonds who was Ewok Logray, and John Coppinger who appeared as Wookie Senator. All the actors will meet and sign autographs for fans at the fair, and have the opportunity to have their photograph taken with R2-D2. The Music of E.T. - A Discussion with John Williams

Doctor Who Executive Producer and lead writer Steven Moffat has invited director Steven Spielberg to direct an episode of the popular series Speaking to the TV Times listings magazine, Moffat – whose first episode in charge of Doctor Who airs Easter Weekend – discussed the moment when Spielberg called him at home to accept his resignation from the Tintin movie, for which he had already completed an initial script. Expected to be released in 2011, The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn stars Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Nick Frost, Jamie Bell and Daniel Craig and uses a motion capture 3D technique. In response to a question as to whether or not Spielberg might like to direct Doctor Who, Moffat replied: “Oh yes. If Steven Spielberg wants to come and direct an episode, he’s very welcome”, he laughed. “He’d probably be horrified by our budget and we’re a bit brutal to our directors at times, but the offer’s there…”
