Get Your Hands On A Real-Life Lightsaber At The All New Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

"You Want This Don't You?"  A Working Lightsaber!

What do we want more than a real-life hoverboard from Back to the Future or a phaser from Star Trek?  Well it's a real-life lightsaber of course.  Star Wars fans will get to experience a lightsaber which to be honest, from the teaser trailer below is the closest we've got yet to a Jedi's favourite weapon.  No news yet on when and if we can purchase one but guests who visit the all new all-immersive Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser,  a two-night vacation experience that goes beyond anything Disney has ever created before will be able to get their hands (mechanical or real) on one, but not until 2022.

The new experience will see guests staying at a starcruiser hotel and for two days will be totally immersed in all things Star Wars.  You won't feel like being on Earth but a galaxy far, far away.

Over on the Disney Parks blog we are told:
"Yes, that’s a new type of lightsaber Rey is holding in her hand, created by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development," Disney shared on the Disney Parks Blog. "Guests who experience Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be the first to see it in action – along with so much more – starting in 2022 when this amazing new two-night adventure debuts. Watching that lightsaber activate right before your eyes will be just one of the countless ways that, from the moment you arrive to the moment you depart, you’ll be plunged into a Star Wars story where your decisions and actions – or even the casual conversations you may have – determine how your personal journey unfolds."

(I think I've figured out how these new lightsabers work but I'm not spoiling it.  Still very cool though.  What I do know is not to look at the barrel-end when switching on.  You have been warned! - Rob)

Did Paul Freeman Accidentally Eat A Fly In Raiders of the Lost Ark?

The Famous Indiana Jones Fly In Belloq's Mouth Scene.  Did It Really Happen? I've always wondered if Paul Freeman unintentionally consumed a fly in this scene in  Raiders of the Lost Ark ?  It's the scene where Indiana Jones shouts down to Bellosh...I mean Belloq and threatens to blow up the ark.  Did a fly go in his mouth? I remember watching this scene back in the early eighties and my ten year old mind thought he definitely had a snack while filming.  I recall talking about 'flygate' in my school playground at the time and the general consensus with my friends was that Freeman definitely had a sneaky snack. Paul Freeman talks about the famous 'fly' scene in an interview with  and settled 'flygate:' This is a bit of a dicey question so don’t get too upset. (Laughs) A movie’s always got bloopers in it, some have a lot, and some only have three or four. And the most remarkable blooper was right before the opening of th

Pinewood Studios To Expand To The Usa

BBC News have reported that Pinewood Studios are to expand to the USA.  This is great news for the famous studio that is rich in movie history. UK film studio Pinewood Shepperton has announced plans to build its first sound stages in the United States. The Pinewood Atlanta complex will be built on 288 acres of land south of Atlanta, Georgia, as a joint venture with a US investment company. Georgia has been among the US states drawing film-making away from Hollywood with tax incentives in recent years. The deal is the latest sign of expansion at Pinewood, the home of the James Bond franchise. Earlier this month it announced a joint venture with a Chinese media group, potentially giving it access to the fast-growing Chinese market. Read the full article here.
