Return to Vader's Castle by IDW Publishing

IDW Publishing have announced Return to Vader's Castle.  Expect a return to the lava planet, Mustafar in this new five-issue story.  Each episode will have a story centred around one of the bad guys or girls.  Asajj Ventress, Darth Maul, Grand Moff Tarkin, Jabba the Hutt and of course Darth Vader will all have a gripping story and you can get your hands on them this October.  Here's the full press release:

Following the success of last year’s Tales from Vader’s Castle comic-book miniseries, IDW Publishing heads back to the lava planet Mustafar for more Halloween-timed storytelling in Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader’s Castle.

Shipping weekly throughout October, this five-issue story pairs Star Wars Adventures mainstay writer (and returning Vader’s Castle scribe) Cavan Scott with Eisner Award-winning artist Francesco Francavilla (Afterlife with Archie) for the story of torment deep within Fortress Vader, one that frames five tales of terror to thrill young and mature readers alike!

“I am over the moon to be returning to Vader’s Castle for another helping of Halloween horror from a galaxy, far, far away. And what better way to celebrate the scariest time of the year than by focusing on the villains of the Star Wars saga?” says Scott. “The response to our last visit to Mustafar was phenomenal, and I hope fans will join us once again, embracing the dark side in the company of Sith, warlords, and crazed Imperial scientists.”

Francavilla says, "I'm hyper-excited to be back working on Vader’s Castle! I had so much fun doing the covers for the first mini, and Cavan’s tales are such a delight, that I was happy to hear from IDW that there would be a sequel. I agreed to work on interior pages as well, so it's double the fun for me and for all the readers!"

Each issue focuses on a different villain, each story written by Cavan Scott and illustrated by a renowned comic creator:

#1: Darth Maul, illustrated by Megan Levens: “Maul is the counterpoint and nemesis of my favorite character from the saga, Obi-Wan Kenobi, so getting to tell a part of his story (and draw those fabulous tattoos) was something I didn't hesitate to sign up for!”

#2: Grand Moff Tarkin, illustrated by Kelley Jones: “Although I rooted against him, I always had a sneaking admiration for Tarkin, as he was – in all honesty – the real evil of the Empire: cold, calculating, and all too human!”

#3: Asajj Ventress, illustrated by Nick Brokenshire: “I can't wait to show you the super-creepy shenanigans we're getting up to in the Star Wars universe!”

#4: Jabba the Hutt, illustrated by Nicoletta Baldari: “These are the comics you're looking for!"

#5: Darth Vader, illustrated by Charles Paul Wilson III: “I told IDW that I'd draw the Kessel Run in less than 14 parsecs if they could get me on this book again, and they told me I could do it…but only if it was in under 12.”

Each issue of Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader’s Castle will feature Cover A by Francesco Francavilla, Cover B by that issue’s respective guest artist, and a special black-and-white retailer incentive edition by Francavilla. Issue #1 will also include a special Derek Charm retailer incentive variant.

Star Wars VII Movie Poster - Every End Is A New Beginning

Just saw this Star Wars VII movie poster on Kyle Newman's Facebook feed.  The poster is by Lyndon Berresford and Paul Bateman.
I am loving this.  Who do you think the two characters are?  Lando and Leia?  Han and Leia's children?

Have you seen other Star Wars VII movie posters?  Let me know.

Did Paul Freeman Accidentally Eat A Fly In Raiders of the Lost Ark?

The Famous Indiana Jones Fly In Belloq's Mouth Scene.  Did It Really Happen? I've always wondered if Paul Freeman unintentionally consumed a fly in this scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark?  It's the scene where Indiana Jones shouts down to Bellosh...I mean Belloq and threatens to blow up the ark.  Did a fly go in his mouth?

I remember watching this scene back in the early eighties and my ten year old mind thought he definitely had a snack while filming.  I recall talking about 'flygate' in my school playground at the time and the general consensus with my friends was that Freeman definitely had a sneaky snack.

Paul Freeman talks about the famous 'fly' scene in an interview with TheIndyExperience.com and settled 'flygate:'

This is a bit of a dicey question so don’t get too upset. (Laughs) A movie’s always got bloopers in it, some have a lot, and some only have three or four. And the most remarkable blooper was right before the opening of the Ark scene.…

Pinewood Studios To Expand To The Usa

BBC News have reported that Pinewood Studios are to expand to the USA.  This is great news for the famous studio that is rich in movie history.

UK film studio Pinewood Shepperton has announced plans to build its first sound stages in the United States. The Pinewood Atlanta complex will be built on 288 acres of land south of Atlanta, Georgia, as a joint venture with a US investment company. Georgia has been among the US states drawing film-making away from Hollywood with tax incentives in recent years. The deal is the latest sign of expansion at Pinewood, the home of the James Bond franchise. Earlier this month it announced a joint venture with a Chinese media group, potentially giving it access to the fast-growing Chinese market.
