Spielberg and Mendes with Mendes' Oscar for American Beauty. |
The non-fiction article for The New Yorker, written by Gay Talese, relates the shocking story of Gerald Foos, a man who bought a motel in order to watch his guests having sex. The story spans multiple decades and eventually leads to Foos witnessing a murder. It's a safe bet Spielberg won't be marketing this to the same audience as, say, The BFG.
The film will be directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes. Mendes most recently directed the James Bond films Skyfall and Spectre, but his first three projects were for DreamWorks: American Beauty, Road to Perdition and Jarhead.
