Random Thrifting Delights. This Week - Star Wars Episode 1 Stationery

star wars episode 1 stationery

If you're a collector of Star Wars and general geek merchandise like me then you've probably got a room where you display the cream of your crop.  If you are like me then you've probably got a room full of overflow geek collectibles stacked up in plastic crates too.  They are full of random things that I picked up from charity shops, thrift stores, comic cons and boot sales.  Some of the items are in poor condition but I just can't seem to resist these little gems.  Our converted garage is just such a room.  Full of plastic crates and I honestly can't remember whats in each one.

So starting this week I thought I would grab some items at random from crate number one.  I've taken a few photos and published them on here.  It turns out its a collection of various Star Wars Episode One stationery packs.  Lets take a look:

The first items I come across are these erasers and pencil sharpener.  Darth Maul, a Starfighter, Qui-Gon, Anakin, Obi-Wan and even Jar-Jar are represented.  Imagine how you would be the envy of the school when you whip out your Jar-Jar Binks eraser? Some of you (not me I must add) are probably thinking you wish Jar-Jar was erased from existence.

Next out are these pretty cool marker pens sporting the Star Wars logo.  Curiously, they have no mention of Episode One on the actual pens.  Only the packaging references the prequel.

Here's a sealed bag full of various stationery items all with an Obi.Wan Kenobi theme.  Crayons, pencils and two note pads.  Curiously the larger one has Darth Maul on the back.  Interesting that they thought it was appropriate to show Obi-Wan's victim on the back cover.

Next up we have two "school kits."  They consist of a pencil case, both with battle droids on, a notepad, pen, pencil sharpener, ruler and an eraser.  The one kit has the words "episode one" on the sharpener and the other is just your bog standard boring metal one.  I know which one I prefer.

Another stationery kit.  Once again although Episode One, none of the individual items have the prequel logo.  Also, as you can see in the photo the sharpener is missing.  It did, however only cost me 29p so worth grabbing.

Queen Amidala is on this rather high quality journal which comes with a key to stop unwanted eyes from finding our what you've been doing for the last few months.

Sticking with Queen Amidala we have this "fun pack set."  A couple of notepads and that generic Star Wars pencil and eraser make up this random set.  It's sealed and apparently only cost me £1.

Lastly for this week we have a few mouse mats.  Does anyone still use these?  Anyway, back in 1999 these would have been essential and nice addition to sit along side your Pentium III PC.  They set me back £2 for the four.

So there we have it.  Our first look at some random items in my collection.  More next week.  If you like this feature please let me know and if you want to share some of your random collectibles please head over to our Facebook page and post them on there.  I would love to see them.

Did Paul Freeman Accidentally Eat A Fly In Raiders of the Lost Ark?

The Famous Indiana Jones Fly In Belloq's Mouth Scene.  Did It Really Happen? I've always wondered if Paul Freeman unintentionally consumed a fly in this scene in  Raiders of the Lost Ark ?  It's the scene where Indiana Jones shouts down to Bellosh...I mean Belloq and threatens to blow up the ark.  Did a fly go in his mouth? I remember watching this scene back in the early eighties and my ten year old mind thought he definitely had a snack while filming.  I recall talking about 'flygate' in my school playground at the time and the general consensus with my friends was that Freeman definitely had a sneaky snack. Paul Freeman talks about the famous 'fly' scene in an interview with TheIndyExperience.com  and settled 'flygate:' This is a bit of a dicey question so don’t get too upset. (Laughs) A movie’s always got bloopers in it, some have a lot, and some only have three or four. And the most remarkable blooper was right before the opening of th

Explaining That "Weird" Cut In Poltergeist. Read The Missing Scene

Why Is There A Strange Cut In The 1982 Horror Classic, Poltergeist? If you're a fan of the 1982 Horror classic, Poltergeist then you will be very familiar with that "weird" cut in the movie.  It's 32 minutes and 47 seconds in to the movie and the scene is where Diane is explaining the strange phenomenon that is happening in the kitchen.  First, she shows to Steve a chair scraping across the floor all on its own then she does the same with Carol Anne.  Steve leans up against the kitchen wall and is completely shocked at what just happened.  It's at this point Diane starts to explain the sensation of being pulled and then...A very abrupt cut.  One moment we are listening to Diane and suddenly it cuts to Diane and Steve at their next door neighbours door.  Why the sudden cut?  It's on the VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray and even the streaming versions.  Why does this awful and weird cut exist in the movie, Poltergeist?  Watch the clip below to see the cut: Well, the ans
