In Back to the Future II, Marty and the Doc travel forward into the future. 2015 to be exact. Well 2015 as we know is here and we are missing some of the technology which was shown in the movie. Flying cars as standard, a Black & Decker food rehydrator and a holographic shark advertising Jaws 19 (directed by Max Spielberg.) to name a few.
But what we can cross off the list is one of the most asked for bits of tech, the hoverboard. Yes it's here thanks to Lexus. Not only have they made a fully working hoverboard it also works on water too.
The Lexus hoverboard uses superconductors and magnets, pushing itself against gravity to generate lift and give us the hoverboard. The steam coming out of the side is liquid nitrogen, cooling the superconductors to -321 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature at which they become superconducting.
Here's what Lexus had to say along with the impressive video.
We’ve made the impossible, possible: The Lexus Hoverboard is here.
