george lucas star wars

I love the new trailer for The Force Awakens.  Its everything I wanted it to be and more.  It seems J.J. Abrams and the talented crew will bring the magic of Star Wars back to the silver screen since Revenge of the Sith or technically in my opinion since the theatrical release of The Clone Wars.

There is a sting in the tale with the new trailer and the positive vibes that go with it and that's the inevitable George Lucas bashing.  Over the last few days I've seen many remarks running down the STAR WARS CREATOR on Twitter and other social media sites.  Statements like 'this is how it should be done George' and 'Star Wars can be done right in the right hands.'

I've even seen a fan-made 'George Lucas special edition' version of the new trailer.  I know this is a joke and should be taken as such but when you see so many positive remarks regarding the new trailer and in the mix 'fans' bashing the STAR WARS CREATOR I can't help but feel it's become a trend and an easy bandwagon to climb aboard.

Here's a suggestion.  Maybe we should just embrace the new Star Wars era and at the same time thank George for Star Wars and the epic galaxy he created.

Whether you're a fan of the original trilogy, whether you hated the prequels or whether you think his changes were one step too far he still brought us so much joy.  We should embrace Star Wars, past present and the future.

Thank you George Lucas for Star Wars and for creating a whole galaxy for me and others to play in.

#ThankyouGeorgeLucas

We all watched the trailer for Star Wars The Force Awakens but did you have the same reaction as this fan?  I love this video.  This makes me smile and shows the joy of being a Star Wars fan.  Wait for the Wookiee impression when he sees the Falcon.

jurassic world gates

Lets bring a bit of balance to the Force and talk about that other movie trailer that was released this week, Jurassic World.  For those of you who haven't seen it yet you can view it below but I'm guessing not many have missed it judging by this stat.  5 million viewers watched the trailer in just 48 hours!  That's impressive.  Most impressive.  Also 34 million views and climbing on Universal Pictures official Youtube channel.

I have a feeling though that Star Wars The Force Awakens will beat that judging by the fact it was trending for the entire day.  Although Jurassic World has definitely done well and a good decision by Universal for bringing the trailer forward by a couple of days.

Also #JurassicWorld started trending again worldwide when The Force Awakens trailer was released.  These two movies are going to be huge.

He stayed up until 4am but talented Star Wars fan, Snooperking from Youtube showed the determination of fans once they put their mind to it.  In an incredible short amount of time and less than 24 hours after the Star Wars The Force Awakens trailer is released we get a Lego version.

Check it out.
this took forever.... hence the upload at 4:00 AM im excited for the movie ha ha
I had nothing to do yesterday so I started once the trailer came out so i built the Falcon, The X-Wing, The speeder bike thingy, a mini tie fighter, tried to build all the sets, and get all my minifigures put together... then just filming took forever especially the the special effects... i tried stop motion in front of the green screen and that was hard and by this time it was 3am so like more than 12 hours (i took a 3 hour break somewhere) and then finally gave up and used sewing string for the X-Wing and just kind of moved my camera around the falcon, i wasn't as happy with the falcon shot but i cant work on it at all today so i had to finish it like 4 hours ago, but i just woke up to go to my grandparents house, and now you know everything about how it was made!! :P

Irrfan Khan is about to take the silver screen by storm when Jurassic World is released next year and it seems Steven Spielberg wants him for another project.  In a recent interview he reveals he's in talks with the director and talks about the rumours about his involvement in the Marvel universe.

What is the status of your next international film?
I will be travelling to promote the film soon. I am also in talks for another project with Spielberg.
It is said that you are going to be part of the Marvel Universe.
There are so many rumours… I don’t want to comment on anything till I confirm anything myself. I don’t want to talk about it because if things don’t go as planned, then a lot of negativity starts to spread.

It's here!  The new Star Wars Force Awakens trailer has hit the web.  'There's been an awakening.  Have you felt it?' are the first words you here in the trailer.  (The voice sounds like Benedict Cumberbatch.) Head over to http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/lucasfilm/starwarstheforceawakens/ or watch the trailer below these photos.  What do you think?  Let us know in the comments or over on our Facebook page.

UPDATE - The voice I've been told is Andy Serkis not Cumberbatch. - Rob

itunes force awakens

The official Star Wars Twitter feed tweeted something today that will hopefully calm down a lot of disgruntled fans over the showing of the latest trailer for The Force Awakens this Friday.

Fans were annoyed at learning initially that the trailer for the new Star Wars movie set to hit screens December 2015 was only going to be shown at a select few cinemas in the US causing some fans to contemplate driving hundreds of miles just to watch an 88 second trailer.

Now, thankfully that strategy has changed thanks to the tweet below:

In fact if you head over to the website for Itunes Trailers you will see they have already put a little logo up showing the trailer coming this Friday (pictured above.)  Could Lucasfilm and Disney break the Internet? Have they done stress tests? Maybe that was their concern all along. We shall see.

Bad Robot just tweeted this photo of a little note from J.J. Abrams on the release of the teaser trailer this Friday.  Note the bottom.  88 seconds.  So the trailer for Star Wars The Force Awakens will be 1 minute 28 seconds.  Also it seems we will be seeing a Tie-Fighter in the trailer for sure.

the bearded trio

Christmas is just around the corner.  What do you buy someone who loves anything Steven Spielberg, George Lucas or John Williams?  Well The Bearded Trio have done the hard work and we've listed ten perfect gifts for any Bearded Trio fan.

Better still you have a chance at winning one of the items.  All you have to do is share this article on Facebook or Twitter and let us know.  Read on to find out more.

1 - Steven Spielberg Director's Collection Blu-Ray Boxset

If you want to have an instant Blu-ray Spielberg collection then look no further than this beautiful collection.  Called the Steven Spielberg Director's Collection it features eight movies all directed by Spielberg.  Four of these have never been on blu-ray before (Duel, The Sugarland Express, 1941 and Always.)  The other movies in the collection are Jaws, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

Price On Amazon UK - £47.60
Price on Amazon US - $90.99

2 - Jaws:  Memories From Martha's Vineyard Book

This is quite possibly the best 'behind the scenes' book I have ever read.  It's packed with never before seen photos from the movie and includes interviews with the locals who were picked to be in this epic movie by Steven Spielberg.  From interviews with extras to carpenters who helped with the set, its all here in this wonderful book with a foreword by Steven Spielberg.  It oozes quality.

Price on Amazon UK - £23.79
Price on Amazon US - $35.33

3 - The Art of John Alvin Book

John Alvin has created some of the most memorable and iconic movie posters in motion picture history and  quite a few of those have been associated with The Bearded Trio.  Jurassic Park, Star Wars, E.T. and The Goonies to name just a few.  The book shows off some of Alvin's finest work but also shows previously unseen sketches to posters such as Jurassic Park and E.T.  Not to be missed.  Read our review of this fabulous book here.
We're also giving away a copy of The Art of John Alvin.  All you have to do is share this article on Twitter or Facebook.  Be sure to include @thebeardedtrio in the share or let us know you've shared.  Closing date is 7th December.  Open worldwide.  Good luck.

Price on Amazon UK - £16.99
Price on Amazon US - $22.23

4 - John Alvin Star Wars Artwork

Staying with the legendary John Alvin, why not buy the above book for your loved one and go all in and purchase a piece of Star Wars artwork by the artist?  With the weather being like Hoth lately, particularly in the United States, this piece entitled 'The Cold of Hoth' is more than appropriate and will make a spectacular addition to any Star Wars or indeed movie fan's collection.  They are very limited so be sure to grab them now.  If you don't fancy the Hoth scene there are others available including Jabba and Leia and scenes from Episode IV. Price - $300 from ArtInsights.com

See more on offer from ArtInsights.com

5 - Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Seasons One Through Six/Original Soundtrack)

We all know that Star Wars:  The Clone Wars has finished and will be missed.  Kevin Kiner's soundtrack to the animated series was a stand out element of the show, particularly the last episode where his music really hit the spot and brought so much emotion to the episode and to the whole series.  Of course the Star Wars music  will always be John Williams but Kevin doesn't shy away from his work and uses many of Willams cues throughout the series.  For a ridiculously cheap price you can listen to music from season one to season six of The Clone Wars.  This needs to be in your collection.

Price On Amazon UK - £5.99
Price on Amazon US - $9.49

6 - The Cinema of George Lucas Book

Three books up next for numbers 6,7 and 8.  The first is my personal favourite on one of the Bearded Trio, George Lucas.  The Cinema of George Lucas is a glorious coffee table book packed with images of the Star Wars creator.  Marcus Hearn digs deep and really delivers in bringing information on Lucas that has never been revealed anywhere else.  Going behind the scenes on Star Wars, American Grafitti and Indiana Jones to name but a few, the book is packed with photos from the sets and George Lucas himself, some I have never seen before including stills from Lucas's student films.  This has to be in your collection  if you're a Lucas fan.  If you're not, buy this book and see how much he has contributed to the film industry.

Price on Amazon UK - £29.95
Price on Amazon US - $39.18

7 - Close Encounters - Iain Johnstone Book

Iain Johnstone has filmed eight documentaries on Steven Spielberg so is bound to know a thing or two about the director. The book does not disappoint with a whole chapter on Spielberg with stories that I've never read anywhere else.  For example:
'Steven told Iain Johnstone that Temple of Doom had a couple of strong swear words and at the Royal Premiere he had been instructed to cough loudly in Princess Diana's ear when they were said.'
Johnstone has also worked with the likes of Tom Hanks, Marlon Brando, Monty Python and has worked on the set of Superman.  All mentioned in the book.  You can read our review here.  Spielberg himself sums it up quite neatly on the back of the book 'Get Iain Johnstone.'

Price on Amazon UK - £10.99
Price on Amazon US - from $9.72

8 - Rogue Leaders, The Story Of Lucasarts

Rogue Leaders: The Story of Lucasarts.  This book looks amazing with a holographic moving front cover that changes between all the great Lucasarts characters such as Guybrush Threepwood, Vader, Evil Tentacle, Lego Indiana Jones.  It oozes quality from the outside and I couldn't wait to start reading about the greats such as Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle.  Lucasarts will be missed and will go down in gaming history having produced some of the most popular games ever made.  The book is packed with photos including concept drawings for the likes of the Indiana Jones game that was never released and The Force Unleashed.  The book takes you on a journey from the first games such as Rescue on Fractulus to The Force Unleashed 2.

Price On Amazon US - $28.50

9 - E.T. The Extra Terrestrial Head Knocker.

How about a little stocking filler?  E.T. The Extra Terrestrial head knocker.  I love the detail on this figure with the expression on E.T's face capturing the movie version.  Coming in at 7" tall made from resin this little E.T. was to celebrate the 30th Anniversary.  Complete with a 'Speak n Spell and Reese's Pieces on the floor this is the perfect little piece to put next to your Spielberg Blu-Ray collection or in your car.

Price on Amazon UK - £20.11
Price on Amazon US - $29.11

10 - Star Wars Life Size Vintage Stormtrooper Monument Statue

Finally we have something for the person who has everything.  What do you get them?  Well if money is no object how about a replica Star Wars Kenner Stormtrooper?  Doesn't sound that impressive?  Well this one is life size!  It comes in at 6 feet tall and even comes with a replica vintage blaster.  This is the perfect gift if you can afford it for the vintage Star Wars collector.  Just make sure you buy plenty of gift wrap.

Price on Amazon UK - $1946.60
Price on Amazon US - $1906.80
