By now you should be aware that "Season Six" of The Clone Wars is heading to Netflix USA at the beginning of March.  In fact Germany are enjoying the series right now.

Last week I tweeted to Netflix UK the ultimate question for us British Netflix subscribers who want more Clone Wars in this country.  "When are we going to get more Clone Wars over here?"

Well thanks to a recently created twitter account called Clone Wars UK we have an answer and its not good news.  Netflix UK tweeted back to them the following response:

Well there you have it.  Not the response we were after here in the UK.  We will have to continue to wait in frustration.  Clouded the future is.

Do you have $30000 spare and a massive Jaws fan?  Well these rare and fantastic photos could be yours.

Rare behind-the-scenes photographs taken on the set of classic movie Jaws are to be sold at auction after surfacing almost 40 years later.
The pictures include shots of star Roy Scheider, who played shark-hunting police chief Brody in the legendary 1975 film, and director Steven Spielberg.
There are also several pictures of the giant mechanical rubber shark that wreaked terror on the fictional seaside resort of Amity.
Along with the photo album, the archive includes red and orange life jackets worn by Spielberg, Scheider and co-stars Robert Shaw who played 'Quint' and Richard Dreyfuss who starred as 'Hooper'.
The life vests are marked with 'Jaws' and 'Orca'.
The archive was amassed by a nautical technician who worked on the set.

It is being sold by his family through Nate D Sanders auctioneers of Los Angeles with a pre-sale estimate of $30,000.
Numerous documents make up the collection including 'shooting call' sheets issued to the cast and crew.

One of the sheets is dated September 18, 1974, when three scenes were shot which were 'Alex Kintner's death', 'Brody and Hooper swim in' and 'Brucie's demise (the explosion)'.
Brucie was the nickname given to the model shark and the remark refers to the penultimate scene in which Brody blows it up by shooting an oxygen canister in its mouth.

The Interweb is awash with rumours on Star Wars VII, Jurassic World and Indy V at the moment.  Well we're here to put straight what is likely to be true and what's likely to be in tomorrow's Latino Post.

INDIANA JONES
Market Saw Blog continues their story from last year in which part of Harrison Ford's negotiation for Star Wars VII is that he is called upon for Indiana Jones too.  Not just one but two Indy movies may be in the mix.
"Regarding Harrison Ford, two more Indiana Jones features are in the negotiation stages as per Ford's contract clause on Star Wars, which is the primary reason he didn't 'publicly' or 'privately' commit, or so I'm told."
- There you go guys - TWO more Indiana Jones movies being planned, not just one. I'll try to get more info on this asap.
Verdict:
Wait And See.

STAR WARS VII
There is a strong (almost confirmed) rumour that Adam Driver has been cast in Star Wars VII and specifically the main villain.  Variety, Hollywood Reporter and Entertainment Weekly have all reported the story.
Sources tell Variety that while no deal is done yet, the “Girls” actor is close to signing on to play the villain in J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode VII.” Exact details are unknown, but the character is said to be in the vein of iconic “Star Wars” villain Darth Vader.
Verdict:
Very Likely

Jurassic World
Is Abbie Cornish in the movie?  It's speculation, PURE speculation but the actress was recently on a talk show and said she was soon to be flying to Hawaii.  Of course this is where the movie is being filmed.  A leap of faith over at JurassicWorld.org
So, this latest rumor is based on pure speculation, however we felt it was still worth reporting on. Abbie Cornish recently appeared on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson", and let drop that she would soon be going to Hawaii. When asked if it were for a movie she coyly replied "It's a big secret, I am not going to tell anybody."

Steven Spielberg and composer John Williams will join the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for a special benefit concert on June 14.
Williams will conduct the DSO as it performs selections from some of his most popular scores, including "Star Wars," ''Harry Potter," ''Jaws," ''E.T.," ''Indiana Jones," ''Schindler's List" and more.
Spielberg will join Williams to host the second half of the evening. He'll present selections from his decades-long artistic collaboration with Williams, including selected film clips projected on an oversized screen above the orchestra.
Tickets will be available starting April 14 for the concert, which will benefit the Detroit Symphony. Both Spielberg and Williams are donating their services for the event.
Williams last conducted the DSO in 2008.

George Lucas and Mellody Hobson could possibly be the most generous couple in the US right now.  They're donating $25m to the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools bringing their total donations to Chicago Institutions to more than $50m.

At Hobson and Lucas' request, the building will be named the Gordon Parks Arts Hall in honor of Parks, the first African-American staff photographer for Life magazine and later the first African-American to direct a major Hollywood movie, his most famous film being 1971's "Shaft."

Rogers said he believes the arts hall will be the first building on the University of Chicago campus named after an African-American. Hobson and Lucas declined an interview request, but the university provided statements from both.

"It was important to us that the University of Chicago campus have a building named for an African American, given the diverse community in which it sits, and the outstanding contributions to our society by people of color," Hobson said.

And from Lucas: "We believe in the power of art to transform lives and communities. Gordon Parks' work did just that."

Actor, director and writer Harold Ramis has sadly died at the age of 69. He was best known for his potrayal as one of the Ghostbusters, Egon Spengler but was also the writer for the movie and its sequel.

Ramis acknowledged that the film was his most memorable work but took pride in its longevity.
"People love Ghostbusters in a really big way," he said in 2009. "Parents loved it for their kids. Teachers loved it.
"We got mail from teachers who said they loved that kids were playing Ghostbusters at recess because it was a non-violent game that didn't divide the kids into good guys and bad guys and the games were very co-operative. It's really had some power."

His other credits included the excellent Caddyshack and Analyze This

He died of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, a rare disease that involves swelling of the blood vessels, his agent told the BBC.

1984.  Remember that?  Realise it was 30 years ago?  Well NBC remember and took the time to speak to John Williams regarding his Olympic Fanfare music he wrote for the 1984 Summer Olympic Games all those years ago.

"It meant a lot.  Any connection would make anyone proud." said the Star Wars composer.

He added "The athletes are the heroes...its a salute to the winners and the competitors."

benedict cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch has revealed he is "notoriously bad" at time-keeping, very un-Sherlock of him.  He revealed he was late for a meeting with War Horse director Steven Spielberg and also admitted that being punctual is not one of his strongest points in an In Conversation discussion with The Hollywood Reporter.

"There are parameters you have to work within as an actor, and sometimes they are difficult to maintain. Time-keeping is one of them and I'm notoriously bad at that," he said.

"And learning your lines. I'm alright at that some of the time and sometimes it can get overwhelming. There are good days and bad days."

star wars rebels

Here are the seven characters from Star Wars Rebels all on one page.

The Inquisitor, Ezra Bridger, Zeb Orrelios, Hera Syndulla, Kanan Jarrus, and the astromech droid "Chopper all feature in the picture.

Becca Benjamin has posted an intriguing blog post over on the Coffee With Kenobi website and asks the question, Is honesty the best policy?  On the surface you may say "of course!"  Becca digs deeper and turns to Star Wars to find the ultimate answer:

Ah, the infamous line: “So what I told you was true, from a certain point of view.”-Obi-wan Kenobi/Ben

Ever since I can remember, this dialog has intrigued me.  Even more after the Prequel Trilogy was complete.
It’s fascinating how someone could alter the truth in such a way, that they actually perceived/deemed it as “acceptable.”  Not to mention, to pass it along without finding fault or accepting ownership in any wrongdoing on his part.

“You’ll find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly upon your own point of view.” – Obi-wan

Let me just point out, this would not be permissible in a court of law. Modifying the truth, to your liking, would be considered a LIE (tampering with evidence) during a trial.

It's an interesting read and not to missed.  Read the whole article over at http://www.coffeewithkenobi.com/is-honesty-the-best-policy/

Our campaign to get one of the sound stages at the recently announced Pinewood Studios, Cardiff named after Cardiff-born Richard Marquand is gathering speed.  Posted on Jedi News, Rebelforce Radio's Facebook page, being tweeted by the official Star Wars Twitter feed and now appearing on the popular Metro website.

Mark Newbold and James Burns of Jedi News contribute to the site and keep readers up to date with the latest news on Star Wars and it was this story they chose to run with:

With the recent announcement of Pinewood Studios’ decision to build a new studio in Cardiff, a petition has been started by a Welsh Star Wars website to have one of those stages named after the director of Return of the Jedi.
With the new Pinewood Studios Wales being based at the former Energy Centre building in Wentloog, it will be a part of Pinewoods’ global network and the Welsh government hopes the 180,000 sq ft complex will generate an estimated £90m for the Welsh economy. But at this early juncture, it’s unlikely that any of the stages have been named yet, giving Star Wars fans a perfect opportunity to get involved.
Via Change.org Rob Wainfur, the webmaster of The Bearded Trio which shines a light on the careers of George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and John Williams, has started this petition which aims to name one of the stages after the late Richard Marquand, the director of Jedi who passed away in 1987.
Thanks to to the team at Jedi News for helping to spread the word.  Check out the full article here.  Please sign the petition over at Change.org.

Thanks everyone

hera star wars rebels

The final hero for Star Wars Rebels has been announced, Hera.  She's a Twi'lek and is going to be voiced by the talented actress, Vanessa Marshall.  As Dave Filoni put it "she is a strong minded character" but Marshall also said she will be "warm and caring at the same time."

Entertainment Weekly grabbed the exclusive along with a video showing all the characters together for the first time.  EW:

Meet Hera, the pilot for the Ghost crew of rebels fighting the Empire. She’s a Twi’lek (having those long head-tail things) and is voiced by actress Vanessa Marshall (The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy). “She is a very strong-minded character,” says Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni, “kind of the heart of the group, keeps everyone together when they would otherwise fall apart.”
“Every time we get a script I’m breathless with anticipation,” Marshall adds, “because I want to see where we’re going too.” Check out Hera’s video intro:

What do you get when you combine Cloverfield with Roger Rabbit and a little bit of 90s video game, Toonstruck?  Toonocalypse.

Aliens known as "Toons" arrive on earth and struggle to integrate into society.  The movie centres around two students as they document the arrival of these Toons and, more worryingly their change after a year into something a bit more frightening and less cute.

Take a look at the video above and you will see the quality involved here.  It looks fantastic and the clever guys behind the scenes need your help to make the movie a reality.  There is a Kickstarter campaign kicking off to make this a reality and they need your help.  But its not all take.  In return for your money they are willing to give some great gifts away.  From posters, digital downloads and music, to being mentioned in the credits.  In fact you get something from as little as £5.  Ever fancied being an Executive Producer?  Well for £300 that can come true!

check out the details below along with the link to the campaign.

Toonocalypse follows John and Michael, two students living in Edinburgh, as they document the arrival on Earth of a species of small, cute, cartoon aliens, known as "Toons". Over time the Toons become integrated into society and into John and Michael's lives, but after a year on Earth, without warning, some of the Toons start to change into something far larger and scarier. As John and Michael try to survive in the streets of Edinburgh they start to learn the grim reality of the Toons' true intentions.

Toonocalypse is a hugely ambitious project visually. We will see large numbers of animated aliens, spaceships and a huge amount of destruction!
The film will be shot on a HD handy cam and the animation will be composited into shot during post production. To do this we will be using techniques like 3D and planar motion tracking alongside 2D character animation and simulated building damage to sell the illusion that the characters are in the scene and interacting with their surroundings.

Sound design is an incredibly important element of an animated film as the characters sounds have to be made from scratch. In addition we have to create the sounds for all of the destruction caused in the later sequences. We will be focusing on creating a natural and rich soundscape using pre-recorded elements, synthesized sounds and voice actors.
There are also sections in the film that require music, both as an original score and also songs for the background of certain scenes. Along with an original score by Callum Barton, we also have original music from Orange Unsigned Acts winner Tommy Reilly and Scottish Folk outfit, The Blind Dog.

  • Owen Rixon - Writer and Director. Owen has been working in animation and VFX for the past 5 years. His degree film, "Welcome To Twister", was nominated for a variety of awards including the Mclaren Animation award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and a Scottish New Talent BAFTA. He now runs The 2D Workshop, a 2D animation, VFX and music production company based in Edinburgh.
  • Callum Barton - Writer and Composer. Callum has been working as a composer and Jazz pianist for the past 3 years. In 2012 he became the Head of Music and Sound at The 2D Workshop.
  • Siggy Stone - Producer. Siggy has worked in the film and television industry for nearly 3 years now. Having worked in various roles on a number of Jamie Oliver series, he has moved on to Drama and Film, working on many notable Productions including: Paddington Bear The Movie, Alpha Papa, Dark Shadows, The Worricker Trilogy, Pusher, Broken, Great Expectations, Street Dance 2, Him & Her, Family Tree, Friday Night Dinner, Black Mirror, Red Dwarf and currently Night At the Museum 3.
  • David Kaye - Actor playing "John". After being educated in Scotland, England and America, as a writer, David embarked on a filmmaking career, training at the Met Film School in Ealing Studios. He quickly realised he'd rather be in front of the camera however and made the decision to train at Drama Studio London where he graduated in July 2013. Since then he has amassed experience as a screen, stage and voice actor.

ellen ripley action figure

It's hard to think that 35 years after the classic movie, Alien, we are still waiting for an action figure of Ellen Ripley with Sigourney Weaver's likeness.  Well the wait is over.  We were sent a press release from National Entertainment Collectibles Association and with it a sneak peak at the concept art for the figure.

This is going to be one to look out for and we will keep you updated on this chest bursting news.

Press release below

35 years later, fans are still “screaming” in space as Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products celebrates the 35th anniversary of the ground-breaking film ALIEN, one of the most enduring sci-fi horror franchises of all time, with multiple iconic partners for exclusive branded merchandise available worldwide.

National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA), an entertainment conglomerate and global leader in licensed consumer goods, in association with Fox Consumer Products, announces today the first-ever action figures of Lieutenant Ellen Ripley that feature the likeness of actress Sigourney Weaver, who was nominated for an Oscar® and Golden Globe® for ALIENS in 1987. The officially licensed Ripley action figures from NECA will span multiple movies within the ALIEN saga: initial plans include a figure of Ripley in her Nostromo jumpsuit from the original 1979 film, to be followed later by a Ripley figure based on the 1986 movie ALIENS, directed by James Cameron.

“As we celebrate the 35th anniversary of one of the most successful film franchises of all time,  we are thrilled to introduce an array of commemorative products across different categories in partnership with iconic brands including NECA, SEGA and many more,” said Jeffrey Godsick, president of Fox Consumer Products. “In addition to the highly anticipated release of Alien: Isolation™, hardcore fans can finally add Lieutenant Ellen Ripley to their ALIEN collections as we welcome her NECA figures into the family of officially-licensed merchandise. Many other exciting first-time and limited edition products will also release to celebrate this exciting milestone this year.”

Return of the Jedi star, Warwick Davis wrote to George Lucas when he was 13 asking the director for Star Wars toys.

Davis played Wicket the Ewok in Lucas's in 1983 film Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
