doctor who christmas special

BBC America is loving Doctor Who especially as the show helped achieve it's highest audience on Christmas Day. The Doctor Who Christmas special saw 2.47m viewers tune in to see the Doctor regenerate.

'The Time of The Doctor' broke the US channel's ratings record that had only been set a month previously by Doctor Who's 50th anniversary special, which drew 2.4m viewers.
Matt Smith made his final appearance as the titular Time Lord in Wednesday's episode, bowing out of the role after almost five years.
The Thick Of It's Peter Capaldi made his debut at the end of the show.
A special looking back at Smith's time on Doctor Who also performed well for the channel, with 1.54m tuning in immediately before his last show.

Over in sunny Spain they are celebrating Innocent Day which is the equivalent to April Fool's Day.  Well one of Spain's popular entertainment sites decided to post a fake story that Christopher Nolan is set to take the reigns of the whip bearing hero.  Not only that they decided to push their luck by saying that all stunts will be choreographed by dancer Olga Kuraeva and the condition that Nolan is on board is he gets to choose the title of the movie.  His choices are "Inside Dr. Henry Walton 's Mind" and "The Archaeology Professor Rises."

A few people were convinced on Facebook.  Indiana Jones Spain was happy to step in and put the record straight.

curiously the reaction was mixed to the announcement that Nolan was on board.

The pilot episode of Columbo was directed by Steven Spielberg.  Here's the original TV trailer for the episode originally aired in 1971.

America loves the Mrs. Melville mystery novels penned by the bestselling team of Franklin and Ferris. What America doesn’t know is that James Ferris does all the writing while gregarious Ken Franklin does all the talking ( as in talk shows, personal appearances, books signings ). They have both become rich, but Jim wants to try serious writing on his own. The decision enrages the untalented Ken, who depends on Mrs. Melville to maintain his high style of living. Rather than risk exposure and poverty, Ken resolves to kill his partner and collect on the insurance policy they have on each other. - http://www.columbo-site.freeuk.com/season1.htm

T'was the night before Christmas and all was quiet.  Let's rectify that and make it even more like Christmas with ten tracks by John Williams.  Merry Christmas.

Lets start with a classic from the movie, Home Alone.

We'll return to Home Alone later.  Next up it's a real treat.  John Williams conducting Sleigh Ride with the excellent Boston Pops.

Over to Home Alone 2 now with Christmas at Carnegie Hall.

All aboard the Hogwarts express now as we head to the magical land of Harry Potter for Christmas, floating candles and all.

Staying within the Harry Potter universe we have this wonderfully majestic piece from The Chamber of Secrets.  Has a magical Christmas feel.

Back to Home Alone now.  We couldn't do a John Williams Christmas list without this one.

Finally lets have a really traditional medley of Christmas music.  Thanks for reading and listening.  Merry Christmas everyone.

I have added all the above videos in one playlist for your enjoyment.  Click here.
